COMANCO Wraps Up a Geosynthetic Lined Cell at New Landfill in Naples, FL
COMANCO is proud to announce the successful completion of its latest project at the landfill in Naples, FL. This milestone marks the creation of a new geosynthetic lined cell. This cell will protect the environment by providing a safe place to collect trash without contaminating the surrounding area.
Currently, the project is in its final stage, with the last layers being installed on the access road. The dedicated team, led by Superintendent Carlos Garcia, works diligently to ensure the project’s success.
Moreover, upon completion, this project will bring several benefits to the customer and the environment. This new cell provides a designated area for the landfill to safely and efficiently dispose of trash. Using geosynthetics, including Geomembrane, GCL (Geosynthetic Clay Liner), and Geocomposite, the project establishes a strong and dependable barrier system, effectively safeguarding the surrounding land and water sources from contamination.
Additionally, the project covers an impressive 9.2 acres, demonstrating the scale and significance of the endeavor, with a total material usage of over 2 million SF!
This project is made up of 6 unique layers, including
- Layer 1: 370,317 SF of Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL)
- Layer 2: 371,931 SF of 60mil Textured Geomembrane
- Layer 3: 287,159 SF of 200mil Geocomposite
- Layer 4: 352,731 SF of Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL)
- Layer 5: 350,711 SF of 60mil Textured Geomembrane
- Layer 6: 363,164 SF of 250mil Geocomposite
Throughout the project, the team encounters various challenges, such as rain-induced washouts on the liner. Limited access to the cell, resulting from its proximity to existing cells on three sides, also presents difficulties.
