Progress made on Landfill in Arcadia, FL, to create a safer environment
COMANCO is making progress at a landfill in Arcadia, FL, to create a safer environment. COMANCO Superintendents Jeremy Giles and Gerardo Ruiz lead the team in completing various activities, including installing a leachate collection line, placing a protective cover, and conducting pressure tests on the temporary force main.
Upon completion, the new cell will enable the landfill to accept waste without causing harmful chemicals to seep into the ground, which helps protect the environment and ensure the safety of local communities.
Despite the significant progress made on this project, the team has had to overcome some challenges, including high winds on the site and design changes. However, they have remained steadfast in their commitment to COMANCO’s core values of Safety, Quality, and Service. For example, they have used a water truck to keep dust levels down during high winds.
COMANCO has also worked with several vendors and suppliers, including AGRU America, SKAPS Industries, and ISCO Industries. These companies have provided our geosynthetic materials. So far, the team has installed over 463,914 SF of Geosynthetic Geomembrane, 16,185 SF of Geosynthetic Clay Liner, and 479,349 SF of Geocomposite. They have also installed 22,860 CY of Protective Cover.
COMANCO’s progress on the liner and earthwork for the new landfill cell in Arcadia, Florida, is significant. Despite challenges, the team continues to make great progress.
