COMANCO Competes in the 2023 IAGI GeoGames, Two Teams Face-Off For The Chance to Take the Title.
Last week, COMANCO had the opportunity to participate in the annual 2023 GeoGames welding competition sponsored by IAGI. Monday morning, two teams of experienced welders met at COMANCO headquarters for the ultimate face-off. They would be racing for the chance to represent COMANCO in the 2023 GeoGames final.
The event tests how fast each installation team can weld five panels, air test the seams, and repair cross seams with extrusion welding. To up the anty, COMANCO had two teams compete against each other for the best time. The winner would represent COMANCO in the 2023 GeoGames.
So we flew in four employees who were qualified for the challenge. Team One consisted of Lucas Aguilar and Obed Velasquez, who have competed in the GeoGames before. Their experience makes them the ones to beat. On Team Two, we have Luis Perez and Tony Morris Jr. participating in their first GeoGames. The rivalry was dubbed “The Vets” vs. “The Rookies.”
One after the other, the two teams completed each task with swiftness. Suspense gripped the crowd of excited employees who had gathered to cheer them on. Because the time was so close, the winner was anyone’s guess. Scott, our proctor from Leister, shared that a mere 10 seconds separated the first and second-place winners. Much to the crowd’s surprise, Team Two secured the win.
COMANCO congratulates Team Two on their time and is proud to have them representing our company in the 2023 IAGI GeoGames. IAGI will announce the overall winner at the Geosynthetics Conference in February. May the fastest team win!
