COMANCO Protects Wetlands with Pond Liner Installation
COMANCO uses Geosynthetic pond liner to protect wetlands and other natural habitats. Superintendent Pablo Medina recently led the COMANCO crew in completing a pond liner project in Central Florida. The team was tasked with installing a slope liner on one side of a pond that bordered a wetlands area. Besides containing pond water, the liner is set up to protect the wetlands from stormwater runoff. Finishing this project was part of Phase 1 of a housing development that is being built.
To achieve the desired outcome, COMANCO installs over 50,000 SF of Viaflex 30mil RPE (reinforced polyethylene liner) with 28 prefabricated rolls. The prefabricated sizes allow for efficient installation with minimal seams. Although the rolls are all the same width, our crew used up to 6 different roll lengths based on the configuration of the pond slope to complete the installation and maintain consistency throughout the project. With the addition of this slope liner, we can guarantee the protection of the pre-existing wetland area. Even as the development is being built, this project will allow a piece of Florida to endure while the site continues to develop and have inhabitants.
