Earlier this week COMANCO began construction at the Desoto County Landfill in Arcadia, FL, a Class I Facility.
Superintendent Matt Carroll will be the COMANCO superintendent tasked with taking on this project with multiple phases. The first phase will be a turnkey 8-acre cell expansion consisting of fill embankment and grading, installing a five-layer geosynthetic containment system, a new HDPE leachate collection and detection pipe system, installing a new HDPE dual contained force main pipe, a drainage layer over the geosynthetics and a complete leachate pump station with controls and components.
Phase two is a partial closure of two existing cells covering nearly 2-acres. COMANCO will be installing a horizontal gas collection system complete with six vertical gas wells, placing an intermediate cover layer, installing a two-layer geosynthetic containment system, a protective cover layer and a revegetation layer. There will also be an HDPE stormwater collection pipe system installed on the partial closure. COMANCO will strive to maintain a safe and efficient work site to provide yet another quality project to its customer, check back in for updates as construction progresses!
