New Project: Landfill DeFuniak Springs
Superintendent Bill Newman and his COMANCO team are working on a new landfill project in DeFuniak Springs, FL.
The landfill project is in its early stages, and the crew is currently working on assisting the landfill with cut and fill work to bring the cell subgrade to level before beginning geosynthetic installation.
The Florida rain has hindered our COMANCO team; when the crew first arrived on site, they noticed the original clay material in the new cell had become saturated by rainfall over time. Luckily, the crew was able to work with what they had to improve the subgrade for the geosynthetic installation. COMANCO provided equipment and machinery to begin the work ahead.
Landfill Project Plans
Cut and fill, also known as excavation and embankment. This process is achieved when earth is removed from an area in order to have it filled into a new project area where work is being drafted. The work being done here ensures the cut and fill is brought to cell subgrade level. This whole process is completed with earthmoving machinery as mentioned above. Once this procedure is completed, the COMANCO crew will move forward with fine grading and geosynthetic installation.
This new landfill cell will provide the customer and its surrounding community with a new landfill to dispose of waste materials for years to come while protecting our environment by preventing contaminants from leaving the cell.
