The COMANCO team has graded and lined 28 acres of a 96-acre pond. The project included two ponds and to increase the use of the area for water management, a dike was built between the south and the north pond. The dewatering for the north pond continues as the gypsum phosphate is processed for reuse as pond bottom material.
The team also installed a filter drain system on the slope and is in the process of sodding the cooling channel. Now, large air actuated valves can open to release the water when necessary. In addition, the crew is also installing rock as a permanent road base.
