COMANCO Makes Huge Progress in St. Augustine, Florida

by

COMANCO is nearing completion of the new 7-acre construction & debris landfill cell in St. Augustine, Florida. The crew, led by Superintendent Chase Yarbrough, just finished up the installation of the Leachate Collection System (LCS). The system consists of 8” perforated pipe running along the invert of the cell, surrounded by a bed of permeable river gravel, and two 24” riser sumps. Two rain flaps were installed across the width of the cell to allow discharge of any stormwater build-up and allow the downstream side of the cell to remain active. The 7-acre cell was then covered with 2 feet of protective cover sand and brought to final grade. Currently, the crew is fine grading the landfill stormwater pond, swales, and berms. In the upcoming week, the crew will make the final push to install the Manhole, 4”x 8” Dual Containment pipe, Elliptical Reinforced Concrete Piping (ERCP) in the North stormwater swale, Sod & Seed for erosion control, and the crushed concrete base for the haul roads. Despite the setbacks due to weather, the crew is showing their resilience and unparalleled dedication to SAFETY, QUALITY, and SERVICE!
