COMANCO has recently achieved a groundbreaking milestone in lagoon liner installation. Our latest project, a stunning 24-acre lagoon in the heart of Palm Springs, California, is poised to become the largest artificial lagoon worldwide. This ambitious endeavor, known as Cotino, is part of Storyliving by Disney’s first community development in Rancho Mirage, and it’s a testament to our expertise and dedication to quality.
A Multi-Layered Masterpiece
We’ve employed a sophisticated multi-layered geosynthetic system to ensure the lagoon’s longevity and optimal water retention. The lagoon’s bed is lined with SOLMAX materials, including 40mil and 80mil Smooth LLDPE liner, reinforced with 160oz Geotextile and sand. The surrounding beaches are lined with 80mil textured LLDPE liner for a slip-resistant surface. This massive undertaking required an astonishing 2,414,223 square feet of geosynthetic liner.
Precision and Craftsmanship
Lagoon liner installation is a meticulous process that demands exceptional skill and attention to detail. Each liner panel must be installed seamlessly to maintain the lagoon’s structural integrity and aesthetic appeal. Each liner panel is expertly cut and tightly pulled to avoid air bubbles. We then use a wedge welder to line the central seams and an extrusion welder to fuse the liner to a Polylock border, ensuring the system’s stability.
