COMANCO Attends Leon County Community Meeting

by

This week, COMANCO’s Sr. Vice President Clayton Lung, Project Engineer Jerome Johnson, and Superintendent Joshua Maurer attended the Leon County Community Meeting held at the Woodrun Baptist Church in Tallahassee, FL.  This meeting was held to discuss the Leon County Landfill closure project and provide information on the short-term impacts on the local community.  They also discussed the long-term upside to the project which will turn the 600-acres of property into a public park once the project is completed.

As the saying goes, ‘One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.’ And what’s more treasured, particularly in dense urban areas, than parkland?  Changing patterns of waste disposal are making many conventional landfills obsolete, and, in turn, municipalities are repurposing these facilities as green spaces, at once removing public eyesores and adding new amenities for their residents.

COMANCO was awarded the Leon County Landfill Closure project which will begin soon; please check back for progress photos.
