COMANCO Employees Complete Smith System Defensive Driver Training
Safety extends beyond the jobsite. Every day, COMANCO employees travel thousands of miles to support environmental, commercial, and civil construction projects across the country. That’s why investing in defensive driver training remains an important part of COMANCO’s commitment to safety, quality, and service.
Recently, a group of COMANCO employees completed the Smith System Defensive Driver Training Program, a nationally recognized driver safety program designed to improve roadway awareness, reduce driving risks, and strengthen safe driving habits for employees operating company vehicles.
The training was delivered in two phases, combining classroom instruction with hands-on learning opportunities.
Virtual Driver Safety Training
The first phase consisted of a two-hour virtual session conducted through Zoom. Participants learned key defensive driving principles, including:
- Hazard recognition and anticipation
- Space management techniques
- Risk assessment and decision-making
- Situational awareness on busy roadways
- Collision prevention strategies
This portion of the defensive driver training provided employees with practical tools they can apply daily while traveling between jobsites, offices, and customer locations.
