COMANCO Environmental has recently completed a multi-layer geosynthetics installation at a solid waste landfill in Sylmar, California. This landfill handles the waste disposal needs of the City and County of Los Angeles, California. This eight layer system consists of the following geosynthetics: 30-mil DS textured HDPE geomembrane, 40-mil DS textured HDPE geomembrane, 60-mil DS textured HDPE geomembrane, 80-mil DS textured HDPE geomembrane, reinforced GCL, 16oz non-woven geotextile, and 250-mil double sided geocomposite. In total, over 49 acres of geosynthetics were installed in the canyon landfill.
This complex installation required great attention to detail with the many different layers of material being deployed on 2:1 slopes. Superintendent Tony Sanchez and the crew did an excellent job working efficiently and safely in a heavily congested work area. The crew demonstrated COMANCO’s core values of SAFETY ★ QUALITY ★ SERVICE throughout the deployment process. Great work team!
