COMANCO is in the process of installing 8 Vertical Gas Extraction Wells at the West Nassau Landfill Closure. The drilling subcontractor will have drilled approximately 770 vertical feet to establish these wells, and the work began last Friday, August 5th, 2011 and will finish today, August 9th, 2011.
Trash encountered during the drilling process is being incorporated back into the landfill, and the voids are being filled with #57 Granite, native soil, and bentonite chips. These gas wells will become part of the Methane Collection System which is burned via flare.
