From the desk of Nathalia Plante, HR & Benefits Administrator:
As you may have heard in the news, the beautiful country of Ecuador has suffered a catastrophic event. On April 16, 2016 at 18:58 ECT, an earthquake with a moment magnitude of 7.8 occurred in Ecuador.
The very large thrust earthquake was centered approximately 170 km from the capital Quito, where it was felt strongly. The damage was widespread and caused the collapse of structures within hundreds of kilometers of the epicenter.
The count to date is approximately 553 people killed and 4,027 people injured. President Rafael Correa declared a state of emergency; 13,500 military personnel and police officers were dispatched for recovery operations, according to the news.
After extensive research, I found Provex, Inc., an international cargo company that transports cargo out of the Miami Port. Provex, Inc., in coordination with the Embassy of Ecuador, uses Atlas(an Ecuadorian company that export flowers to the USA), Tampa Cargo and LAN Airlines, Provex and takes advantage of their empty containers going back to Ecuador to storage donations.
I am originally from Ecuador. The city where I was born is only a few hours away from the earthquake’s epicenter. My family is ok, although very shaken with the events. Nevertheless, they are volunteering and working with the government to help those in need.
I am respectfully asking everyone for donations starting on Tuesday, April 26th to April 29th. A box will be located in the Building B front lobby at the Plant City corporate office in Plant City, FL. The necessary donations are listed as follows:
