Over the past few months, the COMANCO team has been working hard on the installation of a candlestick flare system as part of the landfill gas collection and conveyance system for Phase III of the Polk County Landfill in Winter Haven, FL. The last few weeks have seen the finishing touches being put on the blower/flare system as representatives from both Parnel Biogas (Flare Manufacturer) and QED Environmental Systems (Pumps Supplier) came to the jobsite in order to prepare and inspect the equipment.
County officials, Jones Edmunds Associates, SCS Engineers, and COMANCO personnel were all on hand for a demonstration of the flare system in action through two days of training held from September 27-28. Training was performed by Chip Pettit, Sr. Control Engineer for Parnel Biogas, and included a system overview, regular operation and maintenance, and troubleshooting. The flare system was then run for 3 days to ensure everything was in proper operating condition.
