For the past two months, COMANCO Environmental has been constructing a 12-acre landfill cell expansion in Southeast Florida. The cell has been stripped, de-mucked and put to design grade with a clean soil sub-base. A 6 layer geosynthetic system is now being installed with the secondary GCL and 60-mil HDPE geomembrane layers going down this week. Once the geosynthetic deployment is complete, a 2′ layer of protective cover sand will be installed. COMANCO is concurrently working on the completion of the HDPE pipe gas collection system for this new cell as well. Supervisor, Nathan Wilfong, has been leading the efforts on-site.
