COMANCO Environmental completes deployment and installation at a phosphate mine in Idaho. The ten-man COMANCO crew led by Superintendent Carlos Garcia and Project Engineer Kip Thompson, has installed over 681,000 SF of geosynthetic clay laminated liner (GCLL) and 614,000 SF of geocomposite.
Installation required the use of bentonite clay and spray adhesives for the GCLL seaming while geocomposite was tied and sewn together. The two layer system was installed on six different 3:1 slopes throughout the phosphate mine. GCLL and geocomposite were deployed through multiple drainage trenches and anchor trenches crossing the slopes. The crew completed the deployment and installation of this two layer system safe and sound, in spite of the constant high winds and rain delays they faced throughout the project.
