The ECS Division of COMANCO has been contracted for the large-sized closure of the West Nassau Class I Landfill in Callahan, Florida. The Landfill area is approximately 32.8 acres in size, and the scope of work will include:
1. Grading/Excavating the Existing Surface of the Landfill
2. Installation of a 12” thick Leveling Course
3. Installation of Vertical Landfill Gas Wells and Wellheads
4. Installation of Lateral and Header Gas Piping
5. Installation of a Geosynthetics Cover System consisting of LLDPE Geomembrane and Non-Woven Geotextile
6. Installation of 18” thick Granular Fill, 6” thick topsoil, and Sod
The team will be on the project for an estimated 15 months, finishing right around Fall of 2012.
The Landfill is owned by the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners, operated by the Nassau County Solid Waste Management Department, and Golder Associates will be the Engineer of Record for the project.
The COMANCO Management Team for this project will consist of Troy Watral (Project Manager), Jim Kicsak (Site Superintendent), and Thomas Raab and Nick Bridges (Project Engineers).
