COMANCO pulls resources together for huge push on the North Central Landfill, Class I, Phase V Expansion Project to line sub-cell 2 of 3. Led by liner Superintendents Arnulfo Martinez, Larry Graham and Jorge Barrantes. Three 17-man crews joined forces this week to complete almost 75% of the new cell’s entire footprint with GCL and secondary liner in order to protect the completed subgrade before the next rain event due next week.
The project also has a 20-man earthwork crew lead by Superintendents Bill Newman and Chase Yarborough that have worked long hours to make sure the subgrade is complete and ready for the added liner manpower this week.
This project is a complete turn-key, 30-acre landfill, new cell construction. Each of the three (3) subcells is equipped with leachate collection/detection removal systems, pumping stations, sub base earthwork, roadway construction, stormwater management as well as ancillary components. The five layer liner system consists of GCL, secondary 60-mil geomembrane, secondary 330-mil 8 oz. DS geocomposite, primary 60-mil geomembrane, and primary 330-mil 8 oz. DS geocomposite.
The crew is staying focused on maintaining a safe and efficient manner of work, despite constant rain delays they face on a weekly basis. Great job by the entire team working together and pushing the project past the weather delays
