This week, the COMANCO team partnered up with GSE Environmental to demonstrate for a client how the testing of conductive liner works. A small COMANCO crew graded out an area at a local chemical plant site and installed 60 mil textured white conductive liner over the small area. After seaming was completed, the COMANCO and GSE teams briefly left the site and the client and inspectors made punctures in the liner at random locations.
That afternoon, Bob Lung (COMANCO QC) and Jimmy Youngblood (GSE Technical Support Manager) were able to find punctures that the client made, some as small as 1/100th of an inch using the spark tester shown in the photos. When this spark tester is run across liner with a hole in it, the tester sparks over the puncture location and sounds a buzzer to indicate the hole.
