A COMANCO team led by Superintendent Bill Newman is nearing the completion of a C&D Landfill located in North Florida.
Bill and his crew have just finished placing over 23,000cy of protective cover soil over a three-layer Geosynthetic liner system. The system consists of a strip of GCL down the center of the cell followed by a 60mil HDPE Geomembrane layer & a double-sided Geocomposite layer across the new 7-acre landfill cell.
The crew is now focusing on the final stage of the project, which involves installing the leachate collection system (LCS) consisting of 8” and 24” HDPE pipe wrapped with river gravel and geotextile that will run down the center of the new cell and sump area.
Once completed, the new cell will provide our customer with a new landfill cell ready to dispose of C&D waste materials while protecting the environment. It won’t be long before another Florida landfill is ready for certification!
