COMANCO’s Midwest crew is back to NE Illinois for another geosynthetics installation on a 4.5 acre landfill cell expansion project. With well prepared subgrade, clean & easily accessible tie-ins, and dry weather, the crew was able to install a 4.5 acre , 2 layer liner system in 6 days. Work completed included 1.5 acres of 60-mil textured HDPE geomembrane and 200-mil geocomposite on a 3:1 slope, and 3 acres of 60-mil smooth HDPE geomembrane and 8oz geotextile on the floor. The crew also lined a large sump with vent riser on the south end of the cell which included 5 layers of welded membrane rub sheets. Additionally, 615 LF of extrusion weld tie-in has been completed. The crew will be traveling back to IL to complete a rain flap installation and geotextile installation once the drainage layer is complete early next month.
