COMANCO Installs Active Methane Mitigation System with an Innovative Solution
COMANCO makes progress installing a 500,000+ SF Methane Gas Management System for a building constructed in Hialeah, FL. This building is one of COMANCO’s active systems utilizing a blower skid and condensate sump to mitigate the methane gases rather than using PVC risers to vent the methane into the atmosphere. Additionally, this is one of the first buildings to utilize a run of header pipe through the center of the building. Because of the building’s size, this unique design will ensure that all 11 acres are filtered effectively.
SKAPS Industries provided the liner material for this project. It is a 60-mil smooth HDPE liner. The system includes roughly 2,000+ LF of 6″ SCH80 PVC pipe and 500+ LF of 4″ SCH80 PVC pipe to make up the header pipe system. Harrington Industrial Plastics has worked alongside COMANCO to provide us with our PVC pipe needs for several projects in the Miami area.
Supt. Billy Menard tackled the installation of the header pipe while Supt. Miguel Medrano completed the liner installation. The crew completed their work quickly and efficiently while battling excessive rain on site. Once completed, this building will provide roughly 505,000 SF of warehouse space for future tenants to safely work without worry of methane gases entering the building.
