The 12-man COMANCO crew led by Superintendents Leroy Smith currently finished the deployment and installation of the new landfill cell in the Chicago area. The landfill cell project consists of a three layer system with approximately 8-acres of material for each layer. The three layer system is comprised of both a 60-mil HDPE textured liner on the slopes and 60-mil HDPE smooth on the floor. Once all the HDPE liner was installed, it was then covered with a 10 oz. non-woven geotextile. The final layer of 8 oz. non-woven geotextile was installed over a one-foot granular drainage layer
The crew completed installation of the cell safely and with no incidents, in spite of the constant high winds and rain delays they faced throughout the project. We commend Leroy and his crew on another good job well done!
