COMANCO Employees Complete Heavy Equipment Training at Ring Power
COMANCO continues to invest in employee development. As part of this ongoing effort, two groups of employees recently completed specialized training on heavy equipment at Ring Power, led by expert instructor Blake Conwell. Each training spanned two days, combining classroom instruction with hands-on practice to strengthen both safety awareness and operational proficiency. These targeted sessions underscore COMANCO’s dedication to cultivating a skilled, safety-conscious workforce and maintaining high standards across every jobsite.
Skid Steer Training
The skid steer training commenced with a full-day session in the classroom, where participants were immersed in safety protocols and best operational practices. Day one focused on equipment inspection techniques, recognizing jobsite hazards, and proper procedures for safe operation. Instructor Blake Conwell guided attendees through real-world safety scenarios, emphasizing the importance of routine inspections and machine readiness. Employees left the classroom equipped with critical knowledge to help ensure jobsite compliance and safety.
Day two of skid steer training brought theory into action with an engaging, hands-on session. Employees joined Blake onsite alongside one of COMANCO’s spreader bar to simulate liner deployment using a skid steer. This practical exercise enabled the group to refine their equipment handling skills, practice effective communication, and solve problems in real-time. The experience emphasized not only operational control but also teamwork and situational awareness, which are essential to safe and efficient job performance.
Haul Truck Training
Following skid steer training, a second group of nine employees arrived at Ring Power to participate in haul truck training. Day one centered around classroom instruction, introducing participants to equipment inspection routines, safe load handling, operational standards, and jobsite awareness. With Blake Conwell leading the course, employees engaged in thorough discussions tailored to real-life jobsite challenges, ensuring the material directly applied to the work they perform daily.
On the second day of haul truck training, the group stepped outside for a practical, hands-on experience. Under Blake’s supervision, employees applied what they learned in a controlled environment, practicing key maneuvers and conducting live inspections. The session highlighted safe operation techniques, encouraged peer collaboration, and helped each team member build confidence in the field.
Training Takeaways
Feedback from both training groups was overwhelmingly positive. Skid steer participants appreciated the opportunity to deepen their understanding of safety-first operations and valued the real-world relevance of the sessions. Haul truck trainees noted the interactive format and praised the clarity and depth of instruction. Both groups found the training valuable for refreshing essential skills and learning new practices that promote safer, more effective equipment operation.
