COMANCO continues work at a rain tarp maintenance project in Pasco County before rainy season gets into full swing. We are approaching the summer months when the rainy weather starts hitting Central Florida almost weekly. Superintendent Todd Kirkman and crew are working diligently on completing the next phase of the rain cap. The crew is constructing a dirt berm running the perimeter of the cell that will act like the storm water berm.
Once the berm and the subgrade are prepared, the area is lined with a 20mil HDPE white liner, and ballasted with tires which are tied together using a UV resistant seatbelt webbing. This system allows rainwater to be discharged as normal storm water, as it prevents contact with any potential contaminants in the landfill.
