The 23-man COMANCO crew led by Superintendents Leroy Smith and Jorge Gomez continue deployment and installation of the final landfill closure in Pontiac, IL.
The landfill closure project consists of a two layer system with approximately 30-acres of material for each layer. The two layer system is comprised of 40-mil LLDPE double-sided textured liner covered with a 220-mil double-sided geocomposite layer. The landfill closure also involves the installation of over 92 pipe-boot penetrations in various sizes.
The crew is staying focused on maintaining a safe and efficient manner of work, in spite of the constant high winds and rain delays they face on a weekly basis.
