Earlier this week, COMANCO Environmental finished a pond containment project at a Water Treatment Facility near Springfield, Missouri. The 11 man crew, led by Superintendent Martin Calderon, installed 2 layers of geosynthetics – an 8-oz non-woven geotextile cushion layer with a smooth 60-mil HDPE geomembrane layer over top – approximately 15,400 SF each. The geosynthetics ran down the pond’s slopes and tied into a concrete access ramp that ran down one side of the pond and across the bottom. In order to maintain a water-tight seal at the concrete transition, a stainless steal batten bar attachment was installed and for pipes protruding into the pond, a pipe boot application was applied.
