COMANCO recently wrapped up the 3rd and final phase of a liner repair job at a power plant outside of Atlanta, GA. A storm-water surge pond had 4 layers of the liner system which needed to be replaced and repaired. Repair work was also needed to the pond’s bottom & slope sub-grade. This required detailed coordination with the earthwork GC in order to make this a successful remediation.
Superintendent, Larry Graham did a great job executing the work on site for all 3 mobilizations while having a different allotment of crew members each time. Most importantly, Safety remained the #1 priority for each phase of the project, and all were completed without any mishaps.
Overall, a GCL layer, a secondary HDPE liner & geocomposite, and a primary liner were all replaced at the pond bottom & up one of the slopes that had to be re-built for a new design. All 5 layers were tied into to the existing, undamaged layers. Two new concrete structures were installed as well with an HDPE embed material which the liner material was extrusion welded to. Additionally, a geocomposite rub-sheet was placed at the pond’s bottom for extra protection to the geomembrane liner.
