A COMANCO crew led by Project Superintendent Larry Graham is almost finished with a geosynthetics installation for a cell expansion project outside Kansas City, MO. To date, work completed consists of a 4 layer, 4 acre lined containment system. From subgrade to protective cover the system includes: 60-mil textured HDPE geomembrane layer, geosynthetic clay liner layer, 200-mil geocomposite layer then another 60-mil textured HDPE primary layer. The team also lined an LCS trench that spanned the cell with geomembrane rub sheets and separation textiles as well as a large sump area and riser on the east end of the cell. COMANCO will be going back later this month to complete the final 2.5 acres of geotextile layer above the granular drainage layer.
