COMANCO continues to diligently work at the Polk County NCLF, specifically focusing on the leachate pump stations the past couple days. There are three pump stations in the Phase V expansion project. The team has utilized sheeting at each PS location to be able to operate within the limited space available to install 28-foot manholes, roughly 20 feet below seasonal groundwater level.
As seen in attached photos, the team flew a micro-excavator inside sump 1 area to level rock and remove any excess soil from the sheeting walls in preparation for the sump installations. With safety as our number one priority, COMANCO’s safety director Carlos Campos supervised the first two days of this method.
So far the team has done a great job completing this unusual task with SAFETY ★ QUALITY ★ SERVICE. The team continues to work on the other two sump areas for the next sump installations as well as prep for final secondary liner installation.
