COMANCO Begins Liner Installation Project in Southern California

Last week, COMANCO Environmental began a liner installation project in Southern California.  The project consists of lining the vertical expansion of five different ponds, each having an identical five layer system.  The system ties into the existing system at the bottom and terminates at the top in an anchor trench. The first layer of the liner system is GCL, followed by geonet, 60-mil HDPE smooth liner, another layer of geonet, and another layer of 60-mil HDPE smooth liner as the primary.

Total installation for the project includes: -nearly 1.2 million SF of GCL, -2.4 million SF of geonet, and 2.4 million SF of 60-mil HDPE smooth liner. The 60-mil HDPE smooth liner is conductive, and the COMANCO crew is using spark testers as leak location for both the primary and secondary layers.

Superintendent Martin Calderon and the 16 man crew are off to a great start, working safely and efficiently. Kip Thompson, Project Engineer, is assisting the effort on site. The expected duration for this project is five months.
