The 10-man COMANCO crew led by Superintendent, Leroy Smith, and Project Engineer, Kip Thompson, have started the installation of a geosynthetic five-layered system on a 10.2 acre landfill cell expansion project in Southern California.
Even though the site is lacking ample access around cell floor to stage and deploy material, the first week of the project the crew has produced impressive results installing over 139,177 SF of 40-mil Double-sided Textured HDPE Liner; 131,723 SF of Reinforced GCL; 128,250 SF of 60-mil Double-sided Super Gripnet HDPE Liner; 105,862 SF of 16 oz. Non-Woven Geotextile. Over 3,950 LF of extrusion welding will be performed around the liner limits and tie-ins of the cell floor. Over 440, 810 SF of fifth layer of 8 oz. Non-Woven Geotextile will be installed over a 1 foot layer or crushed rock placed over the first four layers installed for the cell.
COMANCO is looking forward to seeing the project progress, while producing quality work in safe work manner.
