COMANCO Begins Crack Repairs at Gyp Stack

by

COMANCO is in the process of completing a repair job at a Central Florida chemical plant. Superintendent Max Macedo along with Foreman Kenny Frazier and Larry Thomas, are leading the crew to repair voids in a gyp stack that are underneath the existing pond liner.

To begin the process, COMANCO is removing sections of the liner in order to expose the voids. Once these voids are exposed, the crew will fill the voids using a slurry mix consisting of gyp and water. A layer of high strength geotextile is then being placed on top of the slurry mix to add additional support at the repaired area. Once the geotextile is placed, COMANCO is backfilling the area and installing a new section of liner.

The crew is taking extra safety precautions with the unknown conditions under the existing liner.
