COMANCO Advances Safety and Skillset with March Training Sessions
COMANCO believes training is the foundation of safety, quality, and project excellence. In March, our commitment to continuous improvement was on full display. Team members participated in two essential training programs: Basic Rigging, Signaling, and Fall Protection and the ISCO Pipe Fusion and Electrofusion Training.
Rigging, Signaling & Fall Protection Training
COMANCO hosted a vital safety training session at the beginning of March, covering Basic Rigging/Signaling and Fall Protection. The course emphasized critical safety techniques for working around heavy equipment and at elevated heights. These are common challenges in our industry.
Training Highlights:
- Rigging and Signaling: Employees were trained to properly inspect rigging gear, calculate load weights, and communicate effectively using standardized hand signals during lifting operations.
- Fall Protection: The team reviewed the correct use of fall arrest systems, hazard recognition, and how to implement emergency rescue plans. These skills help prevent falls and support quick, safe responses.
This hands-on training boosts workforce preparedness. It reduces the risk of job site incidents and ensures OSHA compliance. It’s another example of how COMANCO prioritizes a “Safety First” culture – empowering our crews with the knowledge and confidence to work smart and stay safe.
ISCO Pipe Fusion & Electrofusion Training
In line with our mission to deliver high-quality geosynthetic and piping solutions, COMANCO also hosted a specialized ISCO Pipe Fusion Training. The two-day course focused on medium and large-diameter pipes. It included electrofusion techniques and Data Logger technology to create strong, leak-proof pipe joints.
Oscar, a bilingual instructor, led the training. It was designed for our Spanish-speaking team members, making the material more accessible to everyone.
Training Breakdown:
- Day 1: Introduced the electrofusion process, with detailed instructions on using Data Loggers to track key parameters such as temperature, pressure, and fusion time.
- Day 2: Delivered practical, hands-on training with electrofusion couplings, simulating real-world pipe fusion applications.
We’re ready for complex piping projects with eight more COMANCO team members now certified in electrofusion and Data Logger use. These skills enhance accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
