Benefits of Stretching

The benefits of stretching or limbering up before any physical exertion have been known for centuries. A marathon athlete would never think of running before going through an extensive stretching routine to loosen up and warm his muscles.

So why are these COMANCO field workers exercising? Laying and welding geosynthetic liner is demanding physical labor using virtually every muscle in the body. Regardless of one’s physical condition it is necessary to stretch those muscles prior to starting work. In cold weather it is even more important to warm up first.

Other benefits include the increase of blood supply and nutrients to joint structures and soft tissues. Stretching also improves muscular balance and posture.

Beyond the science, this program tells COMANCO’s team members that their health and wellbeing is important by making sure their bodies and minds are ready to work. COMANCO believes that by taking care of their employees they are taking care of their business.
