Construction on phase one is now underway as COMANCO teams up with KEMRON to install the first phase of gypstack cover at Mississippi Phosphates Superfund site in Pascagoula, MS.
Phase 1A is the first step in a multi-step process to close and cover the East Gypsum Stack (EGS) and associated wastewater ponds completely. The liner system consists of 50-Mil Structured Geomembrane with an engineered synthetic turf and sand in-fill.
Watershed Geosynthetics will supply the geosynthetic cover system know as ClosureTurf®, an innovative product that provides upfront and long-term cost savings to the EPA. This type of closure marks the first time an engineered geosynthetic turf cover system will be installed at a public Superfund site.
