Landfill Florida Pump Station Work Continues on North Florida Expansion
Landfill Florida Pump Station construction activities continue moving forward as COMANCO crews make major progress on a 10-acre landfill expansion project in North Florida. The expansion project is designed to increase landfill capacity while improving environmental protection through advanced drainage, liner, and leachate management systems.
Recently, Superintendent Bill Newman and his crew successfully completed the interior subgrade preparation for the new landfill cell. Proper subgrade preparation is a critical component of landfill construction because it provides a stable foundation for the geosynthetic liner system and future waste containment operations.
Landfill Florida Pump Station and Infrastructure Installation
Now that the subgrade work has been completed, the project has transitioned to Supervisor Jonathan Mitchell and his crew for the next construction phase. This portion of the Landfill Florida Pump Station project includes:
- Perimeter road construction
- Protective soil cover placement
- HDPE piping installation
- Pump station construction
- Leachate drainage system work
The new transfer pump station will help move leachate water safely through the drainage system while supporting long-term landfill operations and environmental compliance requirements.
Large Geosynthetic Liner System Supports Environmental Protection
The completed Landfill Florida Pump Station project will include the installation of a large-scale geosynthetic liner containment system designed to help protect Florida groundwater and nearby waterways from contamination.
Planned installation quantities include:
- 811,520 square feet of 60mil textured geomembrane liner
- MicroDrain® liner system installation
- 891,930 square feet of 330mil and 220mil geocomposite materials
These geosynthetic systems are essential for controlling stormwater runoff, managing leachate collection, and preventing harmful liquids from migrating into the surrounding environment.
COMANCO Crews Continue Safe and Efficient Progress
Despite changing Florida weather conditions, COMANCO crews continue working safely and efficiently to maintain project progress. Careful coordination between earthwork, piping, and liner installation teams has helped keep the project moving forward while maintaining high construction and safety standards.
Environmental construction projects like this Landfill Florida Pump Station expansion highlight the importance of experienced crews, strong project management, and quality geosynthetic installation practices.
COMANCO remains committed to delivering reliable environmental construction services for landfill expansions, containment systems, stormwater infrastructure, and leachate management projects throughout the United States.
