Earlier this week, COMANCO Environmental started a 3-acre closure project at Sebree Landfill in Robards, KY. COMANCO has been contactracted to install a 4-layer geosynthetic cover system over an existing capped landfill. The materials to be deployed over the prepared sub-grade are as follows: 1) 16 oz/sy non-woven Geotextile, 2) Double-sided 300-mil Tri-planar Geocomposite (gas venting layer), 3) Textured 60-mil HDPE Geomembrane, 4) Double-sided 300-mil Tri-planar Geocomposite (drainage layer).
Superintendent, Tony Sanchez and Project Engineer, Thomas Raab kicked the project off with an extensive safety meeting with the 11-man crew. During this time, the site specific Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) was reviewed followed by the COMANCO standard morning stretch routine. The entire project team then walked the site identifying and discussing potential hazards and obstacles that may arise during construction.
