Newly hired COMANCO employees visit JED Landfill

by

On August 26 a group of recently hired COMANCO employees took a tour of the liner project COMANCO is working on at the JED Landfill. Project Manager Clayton Lung gave us an in depth explanation of the entire process of a multiple layer geosynthetic liner installation and how the construction of landfill cell expansion is accomplished. As Tina, Fleet Administrator put it: “Clayton did a fantastic job explaining how and why the process is completed!” New employees saw the tremendous undertaking of a highly skilled group of employees led by the COMANCO Superintendent, Arnulfo Martinez. For Don, Fleet Accountant, “the most interesting part of the visit was seeing how many layers of fabric and geosynthetic material was laid before the phase of the project was completed and waste could be added.” On a hot, muggy Monday none of us complained, as we were all very intrigued by the tour. Cindy, Administrative Assistant, told us that “the COMANCO liner installation operation is impressive and worth a day in the field to see what it takes to build a landfill cell”. We all walked out with a much clearer understanding of what COMANCO does. “After the visit I have a better appreciation of the work those men do to ensure the geosynthetic and plastic materials are installed correctly, despite the heat and weather elements”, said one of our new COMANCO employees. Natalia and Lucy from the COMANCO HR department thanked Arnulfo for allowing them to meet with the crew members to go over important COMANCO policies. Thanks again to Clay and Arnulfo for expanding our knowledge: we left the job site as proud members of the COMANCO family!
