Today, a new group of recently hired COMANCO employees started a three-day MSHA New Miner Training Course instructed by David Gray with Safety Solutions and Supply. All new miners must receive at least 24 hours of mine safety training, with a minimum of four hours of instruction in eight specific areas before they start working in or around mining operations. Some of the topics being covered in this course include the mining environment, hazard recognition and avoidance, emergency procedures, hazard reporting rules & procedures, statutory rights of miners, first-aid and so much more.
This training ultimately provides our employees with a valuable learning experience that inspires good judgment and safe work habits for many years of working safely in mining.
