Annual Fire Safety Training Reinforces COMANCO’s Safety Culture
COMANCO recently conducted its annual fire safety training during the Fleet Department’s weekly safety meeting, reinforcing the company’s continued commitment to workplace safety and employee preparedness. Safety Officer Todd Klementz and Fleet Supervisor Tony Cole led the annual fire safety training session, providing team members with valuable fire prevention education and hands-on emergency response experience.
The annual fire safety training covered critical topics designed to help employees recognize fire hazards, respond safely during emergencies, and better protect themselves both at work and at home.
Fire Prevention and Emergency Preparedness
During the training session, attendees learned about national fire statistics, the leading causes of residential and commercial fires, and practical methods for reducing fire risks in daily operations.
Topics discussed during the annual fire safety training included:
- Common workplace fire hazards
- Residential fire prevention strategies
- Proper fire extinguisher use
- Emergency response planning
- Safe evacuation procedures
- Fire prevention awareness

Hands-On Fire Extinguisher Training
One of the most valuable portions of the annual fire safety training involved live hands-on fire extinguisher practice. Each attendee had the opportunity to safely operate a fire extinguisher and practice extinguishing a controlled fire scenario.
Employees were trained using the widely recognized P.A.S.S. fire extinguisher method:
- Pull the pin
- Aim at the base of the fire
- Squeeze the handle
- Sweep side to side
Hands-on exercises like these help employees gain confidence and experience so they can react quickly and appropriately during real emergency situations.
