COMANCO Recognizes New River Landfill Crew Following Safe Completion of EGC Phase
COMANCO recently recognized the New River Landfill crew for their hard work and commitment to safety. The team gathered for a safety lunch after completing the exposed geomembrane cap (EGC) phase of the project in Raiford, Florida.
During this phase, the crew installed nine acres of Solmax white 60-mil HDPE geomembrane. They also completed 1,400 LF of toe drain and 5,000 LF of HDPE gas system piping.
The gas system included:
- 2-inch air line
- 4-inch condensate piping
- 16-inch header piping
Each component supports the landfill’s closure and gas management systems. Completing this specialized scope required careful coordination, quality workmanship, and a consistent focus on safe installation practices.
Celebrating the Crew’s Accomplishment
COMANCO President Mark Topp and Vice President of Construction Thomas Raab joined the crew in celebrating the milestone. Perry Kent, Executive Director of the New River Solid Waste Association, and Tobin McKnight, PE, BCEE, Chief Engineer at Jones Edmunds, also attended the celebration.
Blue Line Q, a barbecue restaurant based in Starke, Florida, catered the lunch. The gathering provided an opportunity to recognize the employees whose daily efforts helped move the project forward safely and successfully.
