New River Landfill Project Continues to Advance

The New River Landfill closure project continues to move forward as COMANCO Superintendent Forrest Detzel and his team make strong progress on-site. This project represents a significant milestone, as it will be the first permitted final closure of its kind in the State of Florida.

With a focus on precision and performance, the New River Landfill closure involves advanced geosynthetic systems designed to ensure long-term environmental protection and structural integrity.

Key Construction Milestones Achieved

Significant progress has already been made across multiple components of the New River Landfill project. The team has successfully completed large portions of critical infrastructure, including:

• 1,690 LF of 1,994 LF of toe drain installed
• 1,570 LF of 2,525 LF of anchor trench excavated and backfilled
• 7,937 LF of 11,458 LF of ballast trench excavated and backfilled
• Over 624,000 SF of exposed geomembrane cover installed
• 7,662 LF of 11,458 LF of double wedge weld completed at ballast trenches

These milestones demonstrate the team’s efficiency and commitment to delivering high-quality results.

Advanced Liner Systems and Environmental Protection

The New River Landfill closure incorporates 15 acres of exposed geomembrane, along with ballast trenches and a toe drain collection system. These systems are designed to manage water flow, reduce environmental impact, and ensure long-term containment performance.
