Jefferson Parish Landfill – Cell 20 South Update

by

COMANCO has begun the last phase of the Jefferson Parish Landfill – Cells 20 and 21 Expansions in Westwego, LA. The lining of underdrain composite for Cell 20 South began on October 29th, and since then COMANCO crews have been working on completing this underdrain system along with installing 40 mil Gundseal and 60 mil textured HDPE geomembrane. The crew is currently working on tie-in extrusion welding the new liner to existing liner and will start on laying the final geocomposite layer in the next few days.

The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of next week. The crew has been led by Superintendents Juan Gomez and Arnulfo Martinez and Project Engineers Nick Bridges and Will Drury.

Matt Hipp with Terracon (onsite Inspector) had this to say about the COMANCO crew: “…I have worked with many lining companies, and yours has to be the best. …Your guys have never complained, have never said they couldn’t do something, [and] they have always helped anyway they could. There have [been] many obstacles on this project, and I always look forward to the liner crew coming because I know it will be done right and done very professionally by your guys.”
