COMANCO Superintendent Martin Calderon and crew have completed the geosynthetics installation for the first solid waste Landfill in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba!
Under the Department of the Navy (NAVFAC Southeast), COMANCO worked with RQ Construction as an integral part of the team constructing the new Solid Waste Facility inside Guantanamo Bay. The COMANCO crew completed installing an 11.5-acre landfill cell, a 3-layer Geosynthetic system consisting of GCL, 60mil HDPE Textured Geomembrane, and a 300mil Double-Sided Composite. The crew also completed the installation of two 2-acre Leachate Ponds and several smaller ponds that will make up a part of the new Waste Water Treatment Facility.
Despite fighting daily high winds, Martin and his crew took advantage of the dry season and completed the project safely and ahead of schedule!
