COMANCO has recently completed the expansion of the Landfill Gas Collection System at the Sun Country Landfill in Riverview, Florida. The key features of the project included locating the ends of the existing collection system, and creating new connections as we expanded the system down the slopes of the closed cell. The collection system is comprised of 12” of # 57 stone surrounding a specified perforated HDPE pipe, a 20 mil geomembrane barrier layer, 24” of soil cover, sod, and silt fence for erosion control. COMANCO installed approximately 1,500 LF of HDPE perforated pipe through the course of this project. COMANCO continued to uphold the highest of safety standards, and completed the gas collection system well within the time schedule set for the project. The COMANCO team was led by Project Superintendent Bill Newman and Project Manager Matt Remmert.
