COMANCO crew members have finished installing 1,785,008 SF of geosynthetic liner on sheer slopes in Central Florida. These new installations are part of a broader effort to protect the site from incurrent rainfall and elemental exposure.
As a site covering more than 41 acres, the job has demanded collaboration between multiple state authorities and several participating contractors.
“[We have] four different contractors working in the same area with interdependable activities; relocating liner materials, exposing and cleaning existing liner for the tie-in, maintaining subgrade, controlling surface water for proper installation, and sewing [the bottom layer] of geocomposite to the existing,” Project Manager Marcelo Santos reported.
As a collaborative effort, COMANCO has emphasized accomplishing deliverables on time and performing all tasks on-site to the highest standards.
The finished job site will encompass 41 acres of 60-mil geomembrane, a maintained subgrade, and 22 acres of 250-mil HDPE finished geocomposite. Once completed, a new expansion will be added to the site.
