The intent of the project is to control, manage, and separate runoff from the closed landfill including the process water runoff coming from the Effluent Process Facility (EPF) on site.
Recently, the access road to the top of the closed landfill was built and topped with reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP). An adjacent storm water flume was constructed and covered with Uniform Section Mat (Fabriform) and pumped with grout. The USM Fabriform helps slow down and distribute storm water in high velocity areas to mitigate erosion. The 1-acre EPF collection basin has also been lined with a 60-mil HDPE geomembrane and a 24-oz non-woven geotextile cushion layer underneath. An 18” thick protective cover soil layer is currently being placed over top and will be topped with a 6” concrete slab.
