The Indian River County Landfill Phase II Cell 1 Expansion project is now under way as the crew has mobilized to the jobsite and begun installing erosion and sediment controls, demolition of existing features, as well as preliminary earthwork.
In addition to demolition, the project will consist of excavating, filling, and grading an approximately 12 acre landfill cell expansion which will be lined with one layer of GCL and two layers each of geomembrane and geocomposite. The crew will also be installing a fully-operational leachate collection/detection system as well as a leachate conveyance trench which will work to manage flow within the new cell.
The project should be complete by the end of this year, and COMANCO will be working with Geosyntec (Engineer) and the Indian River County Solid Waste Disposal District (Owner).
